Ideal for extended families or a group of friends, the Petra Villa was originally built in 1542 and as such is one of the oldest houses of the captivating maze of white-washed houses and alleys that comprise the unique village of Chora. Offering modern amenities that blend perfectly with antique furniture and local touches while respecting local architecture and traditions, the fully renovated Petra Villa is indeed one of the most beautiful Patmos villas that will certainly enchant even the most demanding visitors.
The Villa does not have a swimming pool, however its guests can have access of the Petra Hotel's & Suites swimming pool.
The Petra Hotel & Suites, located in Grikos, is within a three-minute drive from the village of Chora, where the Petra Villa is located. It is important to mention that the Petra Villa can be reached only on foot (a five-minute walk from the area where cars are allowed), or by scooter. More precisely, visitors can conveniently drop off their car at the entrance of Chora, and walk in the car-free zone of this jewel town of Patmos in order to reach the Petra Villa.
The LIVING Areas:
With hardwood floors, wooden ceilings, and
impressive antique furniture, the Petra Villa is one of
the most impressive houses on Patmos. Entering the
house from the serene external patio, visitors meet
a comfortable space that serves as an indoor sitting
area and dining room. Adjacent to the living room
and dining area, albeit without visual contact from
it, you will find the wonderful kitchen decorated
in authentic Patmian style and offering all modern
amenities. The kitchen is comfortably situated next
to the patio for easy access to all the areas on the
main floor.
Of course visitors of the Petra Villa should not worry
about cold or warm temperatures: the entire house
offers climate control through sophisticated radiant
cooling and heating systems that are particularly
friendly to the environment.
The ACCOMMODATION Areas:
The master bedroom and two additional bedrooms
are located at the mezzanine level of the Petra Villa,
while a fourth bedroom is situated on the ground
floor.
A small sitting area on the mezzanine level provides
additional comfort and serves as an entry area
to a corridor that leads to the rooms. The master
bedroom and a second bedroom are equipped with
en-suite bathrooms. In fact, the en-suite bathroom of
the second bedroom is situated at a different level,
combined with an area offering an additional sofabed that may also be used as a couch. Connected to the bedroom through a small stairway, this additional space is a perfect illustration of local architecture and a playful tradition of Patmian houses.
The third bedroom on the top floor is equipped with an Ontas bed, a traditional queen-size, hand-curved wooden bed that gives the room distinct character. The bathroom to this bedroom is located a few steps outside the room for its guests’ exclusive use.
The fourth bedroom of the Petra Villa, situated on the ground floor, still uses the Ontas design, but offers two separate double beds rather than a queen-size bed. Both Ontas bedrooms use a similar bathroom setup just a few steps outside the room.
The OUTDOOR Areas:
An imposing traditional Patmian patio in an entirely
private setting is one of the Petra Villa’s strongest
assets. This main outdoor area of the villa is the ideal
setting for endless hours of leisure, and is connected
by an external stairway to a veranda at the mezzanine
level.
Staying in such a wonderful villa amongst whitewashed alleys and traditionally paved narrow streets
is an amazing experience. Since Chora’s unique
cultural elements have elevated it to a UNESCO
World Heritage Site status, swimming pools are not
allowed in the village. However, if Petra Villa guests
find themselves in need to cool off during a hot
summer day, they may enjoy the swimming pool at
the Petra Hotel & Suites in Grikos, or spend a day at
one of the fine beaches of Patmos.
The AMAZING Scenery:
Petra Villa guests will be enchanted by the amazing
270 degree view of the Aegean Sea and the Monastery
of St. John offered from the very top of the house. The
top-floor terrace is accessible through a stairway and
hatch according to traditional Patmian architecture.
This area is a favorite of many of our guests during
the early evening hours, when they can enjoy the
refreshing evening breeze watching the endless blue
of the Aegean
